The 2020 Donations Program – Supporting Talent Everywhere

We have started a new program to periodically donate part of our revenue to nonprofits that empower people and build spaces where talent can shine.

At BairesDev, we believe that talent is what matters most. Our remote work mindset has allowed us to tap into a global talent pool and build distributed teams of extraordinary people for over a decade. However, we also know that the world is full of talented people who struggle to push through disfavorable environments, hindering their opportunities to thrive. And we want to do our part to change that. 

That is why we have started a new program to periodically donate part of our revenue to nonprofits that empower people and build spaces where talent can shine. Throughout the year, we team up with our clients and donate to amazing nonprofit organizations on their behalf. These NPOs come from a list of suggestions that our clients make a choice from. However, they can also choose any other NPO they prefer.

So far, BairesDev has made close to 100 donations on behalf of our clients to almost 20 organizations that are helping people thrive around the world. Girls Who Code, whose mission is to close the gender gap in the technology industry, has received the most support until now. Following closely we have Feeding America, the leading NPO fighting hunger in the US; Benetech, whose purpose is to identify and create software solutions that address big, deep-rooted social problems; and Child’s Play, an NPO improving the lives of children in hospitals, clinics, domestic violence shelters, and other facilities using the power of videogames. 

Though BairesDev has always made donations throughout the years, this new program comes from a more formal initiative, the 2019’s BairesDev Donation Hub, which was an incredibly fulfilling success for all of our team. At that time, the NPO that received the most support was Girls in Tech, whose work continues to educate and empower women who are passionate about technology. Other popular choices included One Laptop Per Child, whose mission is to empower the world’s poorest children through education; and Child’s Play, which showed up once again as a top choice for our clients in this year’s campaign.  

We believe that our world should be a place where anyone can grow their talent, regardless of who they are or where they come from. No matter what, the BairesDev team will continue to strive to find opportunities to empower people and give them the confidence and flexibility to share, learn, and reach their full potential—and we’re just getting started.
