Dr. David Von Dollen is the Head of AI within the CTO Office at BairesDev. He defines the AI strategy and roadmap and leads the development and commercialization of AI products. This includes building standardized software packages and reusable patterns that shorten delivery cycles, increase efficiency, and expand customer value.
His work positions AI as a key differentiator across BairesDev's services and client engagements — while maintaining rigorous governance and compliance standards.
David brings nearly two decades of experience in data science and machine learning engineering across the automotive, smart cities, health tech, and fintech sectors. His career reflects a consistent track record of bridging the gap between advanced R&D and commercial ROI.
As Head of AI at Volkswagen Group of America, he co-founded the VW quantum computing team and collaborated with Google on the open-source TensorFlow Quantum library. As VP of Data Science at GridMatrix, he led AI deployments for critical infrastructure, achieving SOC 2 compliance and reducing cloud costs by more than 60%. He later led AI product development for IoT edge devices at Kabata Fitness. He also holds multiple patents.
David is a strong advocate for what he calls "disciplined innovation." For him, that means balancing the velocity of AI adoption with cost efficiency and trustworthiness. He believes successful AI is not just about algorithms but about building secure, auditable, and human-centric systems.
David is a frequent speaker on AI and has authored numerous scientific publications. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from Leiden University and an M.S. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.
